Harriet "Hattie" Wilcox (1869-1943) for Rookwood Pottery Vase, Cincinnati, Ohio, 1925, Back Opal glazed earthenware, impressed signature, date, and number to underside "Flame Mark/272I/HEW," ht. 6 1/4, dia. 3 in.
Note: Wilcox was born in Cincinnati and attended the Cincinnati Art Academy were she studied under Frank Duveneck. She decorated at Rookwood from 1886 until the 1930s, with a hiatus for a few years after 1907. Her work is found in a variety of glazes.
