Early Albert R. Valentien (1862-1925) Rookwood Pottery Pitcher, Cincinnati, Ohio, 1888, glazed earthenware, impressed signature, date, and number to underside "Anchor mark/Rookwood/36/ARV," ht. 7, wd, 8 in.
Note: Valentien was born in Cincinnati and attended the Cincinnati Art Academy. In 1881, at 19, he began working at Rookwood is now regarded as one of their most accomplished artists.
