Fair-haired Man in a Ruff Collar. Unsigned. Oil on canvas, 17 3/4 x 15 1/2 in., framed. Condition: Canvas deformation, punctures to the u.c., canvas deformation, craquelure, scattered losses, areas of thinning canvas, stretcher bar marks, surface grime.

Provenance: The estate of George Way, Staten Island, New York.

N.B. This portrait was reviewed via photographs by scholars from the Netherlands Institute of Art History who suggested that it was patterned after a 17th-century work but executed later.
