Dutch School, 17th Century Style

Two Winter Landscapes with Figures on the Ice: Daylight and Dusk. Both unsigned. Both oil on panel, sizes to 13 x 18 3/4 in., unframed. Condition: Daylight with retouch along a thin horizontal crack across the entire panel u.c. stabilized with cradles on the reverse, a second horizontal hairline crack to u.r., minor wear to edges of the panel, fine craquelure; Dusk with varnish discoloration, area of craquelure with lifting l.c., areas of fine alligatoring in the darkest pigments.

Provenance: The estate of George Way, Staten Island, New York.

N.B. The brushwork and under drawing of Daylight suggest it is later 19th century or even 20th century.

The smaller of the two works measures 12 5/8 x 16 inches.
