Dutch School, 17th Century Style

Two Small Genre Scenes: Woman with Baby at a Window and Man Lighting His Pipe in a Tavern Interior. Unsigned, Man inscribed "Ostade" on the stretcher. Oil on panel and canvas, respectively, sizes to 10 1/4 x 9 in., framed. Condition: Both with craquelure, Woman with surface damage to u.l. corner, heavy varnish layer, Man lined, with abrasions, retouch, old repairs, varnish discoloration.

Provenance: The estate of George Way, Staten Island, New York.

"Man" is framed in a simple strip frame that measures 10 5/8 x 9 1/4 inches. "Woman and Baby" is on panel that measures 8 x6 1/4 inches, with the framed dimensions of 11 1/2 x 9 3/4 inches.
