Two Illustrations En Grisaille:
Charles David Williams (American, 1875-1954),Firing the Shipboard Gatling Gun and Bror Thure de Thulstrup (Swedish/American, 1848-1930),Great Guns - Ready Fire. Gatling Gun signed and dated "C.D. Williams-98" l.l., Great Guns attributed and titled in an inscription on the frame backing paper. Gouache and ink on paper/board, sight sizes to 13 3/4 x 10 5/8 in., framed. Condition: Gatling Gun with toning, breaks to u.r. corner, Great Guns support with two vertical seams, areas of minor craquelure, not examined out of frames.
N.B. The inscription on Thulstrup Great Guns frame backing states that it is titled "Great Guns-Ready Fire" on the front margin and is inscribed "Naval Reserves - USN 1885/Gun Drill - Note some sailors in Civilian Clothes" on the reverse.
