Description:
Mount, William Sidney (1807-1868) Autograph Letter Signed, Stony Brook, 31 December 1848. Single folded folio woven paper inscribed on four sides to B.F. Thompson, a lengthy letter describing natural pigments and an expedition he and his brother, S.A. Mount made 13 January 1843 the high banks bordering Long Island Sound searching for pigments and the results of that exploration, with a sketch of a Native American tomahawk and shoreline on page 3, brief mention of a discussion about pigments with Thomas Cole on page 4, (wrinkles/folds at corners),sheet 10 x 8 in.
Provenance: The Stebbins family collection, Massachusetts.
