Unsigned, subject identified in an inscription in brown ink in the cartouche l.c., titled and inscribed ".../Georg Chph Guenther Wein 1736-1777" in pencil on the reverse.
Ink and wash on gray laid paper, sheet size 9 1/8 x 6 7/8 in. (23.2 x 17.3 cm),framed.
Condition: Minor restored tears at center of each vertical side, crease across l.r. corner, handling creases, subtle staining, reverse with remnants of old hinges, currently hinged to back mat in two places on the top edge of the reverse.
N.B. Georg Christoph Günther was known as a pastelist and author of an early manual on pastel painting. The inscription on the reverse associates him with Vienna, but he was born in Ernsbach and died in Nürnberg.

Ink staining or similar to the top edge of the reverse, along with old mountings, some of which present on the recto mainly as glue stains and some rippling to the paper. The crease across the l.r. quadrant starts from the middle c.r. side and finishes in the cartouche. It is more visible on the reverse and is barely visible on the recto. Scattered small fox marks. Subtle handing creases.
Framed dimensions are 15 1/2 x 12 1/2 x 7/8 in.
