The painting is in rough condition may have been exposed to a fire. Condition issues are mainly confined to the background and to Joseph, while the Madonna's face and the infant Christ show relatively little damage. Overall there is extensive alligatoring, craquelure, craquelure with shrinking, flaking, and losses.
