Italian School, 19th Century
After Teniers: Jovial Old Man with a Pipe. Signed "P. Rospini" u.r., inscribed "After Teniers" on a fragmentary label affixed to the stretcher. Oil on canvas, 23 x 16 3/4 in., framed. Condition: Lined, probable old retouch, stable craquelure, minor surface grime.
N.B. The lot is accompanied by a bill and a receipt for conservation from Childs Gallery, Inc., Boston, from July/August 1970.

Framed dimensions are 33 5/8 x 27 1/2 x 4 inches.
The invoice from Child's Gallery describes the work to be done as "clean, reline, retouch, resurface." There is no retouch visible under UV at this point, but the conservation work is now fifty years old.
