Signed "N.C. WYETH" l.r., identified on a form from the N.C. Wyeth Catalogue Raisonné Project encapsulated and affixed to the frame backing matboard.
Charcoal on paper, 31 x 24 1/2 in. (78.7 x 62.2 cm), in a Newcomb Macklin frame.
Condition: Toning, creasing, staining, rippling, 1/4 inch horizontal tear l.r., minor surface loss to the left of the signature, not examined out of frame.

Provenance: Private collection, Nashville, Tennessee; through to a private collection, Cincinnati, Ohio; Swann Auction Galleries, New York, American Art, June 9, 2016, Sale 2418, Lot 12, as View of a Destroyed Town, World War I; to the current private collection.

N.B. This drawing has been authenticated by the N.C. Wyeth Catalogue Raisonné Project, Brandywine River Museum, Chadds Ford, October 24, 2001, identification number NCWS-2641. The catalogue raisonné lists the work as "Title unknown (view of a cathedral town damaged by war)" and dates the work to c. 1917-1919.
