Sunset on the Ruhr Valley
Signed and dated "H. Herzog 1871" l.r., inscribed indistinctly "11. Scene...near Kettwig/on the Ruhr./(germany)" in pencil on the reverse, titled and identified on a handwritten label affixed to the reverse, and with a loan label from the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts naming Harrison Earl as lender (register 1879, no. 866) also affixed to the reverse.
Oil on millboard, 12 x 16 in. (30.5 x 40.6 cm),framed.
Condition: Wear to edges from frame, small losses to both "H"s in signature and "78" in date due to frame abrasion, craquelure.
