Salvador Dalí (Spanish, 1904-1989)
Hommage à Mercure, 1973, total edition of 300 plus proofs (Field, 73-15; Michler & Löpsinger, 678). Signed "Dalí" in pencil l.r., inscribed "E.A." in pencil l.l. Color etching with stencil coloring on Japan paper, plate size 23 1/4 x 15 3/4 in. (59.0 x 40.0 cm),unmatted, unframed.
Condition: Deckled edges, gently light-stained, old cloth tape hinges to upper edge on verso, creases and crimps near edges, rubs to margins, pencil annotations to verso.

The sheet measures 30 3/8 x 22 3/8 inches. There are numerous crimps and creases along the right edge which are roughly parallel to the edge and well outside of the plate mark. The other edges have some as well, but they are far fewer and less prevalent. The lower corners have rubs to the paper fibers, and soft dog-earred creases (more pressed to the left one).
