Ipswich Marshes, 1926, proof F-1 (Paff, 257). Signed "FrankW.Benson." in pencil l.l. Drypoint on laid paper, plate size 7 7/8 x 9 7/8 in. (19.8 x 25.0 cm),unmatted, unframed.
Condition: Deckled lower edge, fingerprints to margins, toning to very edges of sheet, pencil annotations to lower margin, ink annotation to verso.
Provenance: Descended within the family of the artist.
N.B. Proof F-1 is the only proof of the published state, edition of 150. The marshes of Ipswich, Massachusetts, are myriad. They are formed where the Merrimack, Parker, and Ipswich Rivers flow into the Atlantic, by Plum Island. The island is known for its beautiful beaches and the whole area is popular with bird watchers.
