Shaker Rocking Armchair, 19th century, the back of four arched slats joining slightly tapering stiles, on shaped arms with circular handholds, on turned arm supports and legs with precisely turned collars, old surface, ht. 41 1/4, seat ht. 15 in.
Provenance: Mrs. James Bennett, Hanover, Connecticut, until the 1940s; Mrs. Arthur Hall, Guilford, Connecticut; purchased in 1981 from Lewis Scranton, Killingworth, Connecticut, by the consignor.

old splint seat replaced by tape.
