Three collections, two from New York City and one from Hawaii dominate our July Tribal Art online sale this year. The largest is from the late Eleanor Tulman Hancock, who was a dealer in American Indian art for many years in New York; it features pottery, baskets, and beadwork and is particularly strong in southwest jewelry. We also have over fifty objects from the Abe and Paula Rosman collection, also from New York. The couple collected widely and had a particular passion for Oceanic and Northwest Coast art, as well as early Northeastern baskets. The third collection is predominately Oceanic art from the Leo and Lillian Fortess collection, from Honolulu, who started collecting South Pacific art in the 1940s.
