Condition: Craquelure, retouch, significant varnish discoloration.
Provenance: The estate of George Way.

Framed dimensions are 16 3/4 x 20 3/4 x 2 1/4 in.
Under UV the varnish presents as a heavy coat of milky white, making any details of the composition hard to discern. Couple face one another with a stairway behind them. Man holds a pipe; woman holds a glass. A third figure stands in the alcove on the right beneath the staircase.
