HAYNES & CO./MAKERS,/BOSTON and AWARDED TO/ZOGBAUM & FAIRCHILD/For the best Guitars./"Tilton's Patent"/1865/AMERICAN INSTITUTE/NEW YORK., the headstock stamped JOHN C. HAYNES & CO/BOSTON; together with a 19th century painting by Katherine W. Mulliken, signed KWM '89, depicting a parlor still life with Tilton guitar, oil on canvas, 31 1/2 x 23 1/2 in., framed.
