Small Blue and White Jardiniere, China, possibly Kangxi period, deep bowl form, with conical sides and flanged mouth rim, depicting a qilin standing on a rock above waves, in two shaped panels, a double ring on base, ht. 6 3/4, mouth dia. 8 1/8 in.
Provenance: Since 1928, Reginald Leon, Denham, England; Mary Andrews Wolff Collection since 1958, purchased from H.R. Hancock & Sons, London; then by descent to the present owner.

some glazing flaws with pockmarks, bumps, and clay impurities, webs of firing cracks on base, surface dirt particularly to the interior.
