Lino Tagliapietra (Italian, b. 1934) Studio Art Glass Vase, Murano, Italy, horizontal with yellow vertical canes pinched at the top, incised mark and date "Lino Tagliapietra Effetre International Murano 1986 7/100 Italy," approx. ht. 10 1/2, wd. 13 3/4 in.
Note: Lino Tagliapietra is a Venetian glass artist who has also worked extensively in the United States. As a teacher and mentor he has played a key role in the international exchange of glassblowing processes and techniques between the principal American centers and his native Murano. In 1979-80, he taught at Dale Chihuly's Pilchuck Glass School. In the 1980s, Tagliapietra transitioned from production pieces to creating individual pieces of art as an independent studio artist.
