Condition: Affixed to window mat with tape applied to center of left, right and upper edges on the reverse, creases to u.r. and center, dog-ear crease and small loss to u.r. corner, accretions u.l., small area of craquelure c.r., tape remnants near edges on the reverse.
Provenance: Collection of John Scott Everton, former United States ambassador to Burma (1961-1963),and an ordained Baptist minister, college administrator, and executive with the Ford Foundation; by family descent to the current private collection, Massachusetts.
N.B. John Scott Everton first visited India shortly after World War II as a representative of the American Friends Service Committee working on famine relief. He returned to India many times throughout his career which led him to positions in Burma, Turkey, Indonesia, and Taiwan.

Inscribed "5687/B/5687" in pencil on the reverse. Diagonal crease at upper right measures approximately 3 in. Horizontal crease at center measures approximately 2 1/2 in. The small area of craquelure at center right lies within the white pigment near the figure's wrist.
