Windmill at Rotterdam
Signed, dated, and inscribed "BURLIUK./1955/ROTTERDAM HOLLAND/OOSPLEIN" along the lower edge.
Oil on canvas, 18 x 14 7/8 in. (45.7 x 37.8 cm),framed.
Condition: Horizontal abrasion (no paint loss sustained) measuring approximately 1 inch with partial puncture l.c.

The damage is located midway on the right side of the lower portion of the windmill. It appears as a horizontal indentation, with a line of horizontal craquelure, and with a break to the canvas fibers on the reverse.

Also on the reverse there is a tiny area of missing canvas. It is not a puncture. It seems to correspond to an tiny area left unpainted in the sky just to the right of the windmill's balcony.

The work might benefit from cleaning.



Framed dimensions are 27 x 24 x 1-1/2 inches.
