N.B. The unsigned painting at hand has heretofore been attributed to Paul Bril (Flemish, 1554-1626). During cataloging, images of the painting were reviewed by experts at the RKD (Netherlands Institute for Art History) who noted similarities to the works of Marten Rijckaert and Jan Wildens, but suggested the more general attribution to an anonymous 17th-century artist from the southern Netherlands.
Framed dimensions are 30 1/4 x 47 in.
Two horizontal losses along very top center edge, one 1 inch across, the other 1/2 inch across.
