N.B. This painting was reviewed via digital photographs by the RKD (Netherlands Institute for Art History), which suggested the attribution to Alexander van Bredael (Flemish, 1663-1722). In addition to the "AB" monogram, the painting shares many similar qualities to his works, including the composition scheme and the figure and animal types, although they noted that the artist tended to portray landscape in a more Italianate style.
Trimmed of tacking edges and lined many years ago (maybe early 20th c. lining?) Craquelure with flaking most pronounced in the sky in the upper right quadrant.
Various old repairs. Varnish discoloration. Please refer to condition photos.
Framed dimensions are 52 x 72 x 2-1/2 inches.
