John Stokell Mahogany Astronomical Floor Regulator, New York, c. 1840, flat-top molded hood with lamb's ear decorated canted columns flanking the 13-in. dia. silvered dial marked "Stokell/New York," arabic numeral outer minute track, running seconds and roman numeral hour dial, similarly decorated trunk with full-length glass waist door, two-panel base with beaded center, all on a simple stepped base, eight-day movement with 4 mm thick trapezoidal plates, maintaining power, and deadbeat escapement, jeweled pallets, brass-cased weight, and a single-jar mercury temperature compensating pendulum, ht. 79 in.
