Captain Joshua Stoddard's Needlework Wallet, probably North Stonington, Connecticut, c. 1760, the exterior with fine floral needlework and an engraved silver clasp, inscribed in needlework under the flap "IOSHUA STODDARD," opening to two pockets lined with mustard-colored silk, ht. 3 1/2, wd. 7 in.
Note: A note associated with the wallet states that Stoddard's oldest daughter, Rachel (1750-1845),stitched the wallet. Capt. Joshua Stoddard was born 1722 and died in 1798.
