Diminutive Federal Pier Table with Drawer, eastern Massachusetts, c. 1800, the straight front and half-serpentine ends and edge with vertical band inlay above a conforming apron with drawer flanked by foliate-inlaid dies and lower banded edge all joining tall square tapering string-inlaid legs ending in vertical band inlaid cuffs, replaced pulls, refinished, ht. 34 1/2, wd. 35 3/4, dp. 17 1/2 in.

Refinished, replaced pulls, good overall condition. When the consignor purchased it, there were some holes at the back edge (from a later added gallery or other decorative element, perhaps) that are now plugged - its not very obtrusive. There are some minor fixes to inlay and veneer, and the brasses are replacements. In addition: we noticed, and have no idea why this would be, that it appears that the bottom front of each leg (below the cuff) is a small panel of veneer. This doesn't appear to be the case on the other three sides of each leg below the cuff. It does seem possible that it was made that way.
