Description:

Besler, Basil (1561-1629) Six Hand-colored Botanical Engravings. Each large folio copper-plate engraving printed on laid paper with bunch of grapes watermarks depicting the Sunflower, Flos Solis Prolifer; Arabian Star Flower, Ornithogalum Arabicum; Blue Flax, Linum Sylvestre Flore Coeruleo; Sea Holly, Eringium Marinum; a variety of Euphorbia, Cataputia Vulgaris; [and] Carolina Jasmine, Gelsiminum Catalonicum; each plate with two to three other plants depicted except for the sunflower; some with folds, closed tears, a few spots worn through, mostly 22 x 16 1/2 in.
