Including: Memorial of the Members of the Legislative Council of the Provisional Government of Deseret, Praying for Admission into the Union as a State, or for a Territorial Government, Senate, 31st Congress, 1st Session, Miscellaneous [Publication] No. 10, ordered to be printed December 27, 1849, uncut, fourteen numbered pages and one blank, all intact as a single sheet; Deseret. Constitution of the State of Deseret, with the Journal of the Convention which Formed it, and the Proceedings of the Legislature Consequent thereon, House of Representatives, 31st Congress, 1st Session, Miscellaneous [Publication] No. 18, ordered to be printed January 28, 1850, two uncut sheets comprising twelve numbered pages, the first four leaves joined as a single sheet, the second bifolium also uncut; [and] Letter of the Delegate of the Territory of Utah in Congress, Senate, 35th Congress, 1st Session, Mis. Doc. No. 240, ordered to be printed April 20, 1858, ten pages, uncut, stab stitched; each pamphlet approximately 9 3/4 x 6 1/4 in.

Before the Utah Territory was organized, LDS settlers of the Great Salt Lake region proposed statehood for themselves over a vast area in the west recently taken by the United States from Mexico. The proposal encompassed nearly all of present-day Utah and Nevada, large portions of California and Arizona, and parts of Colorado, New Mexico, Wyoming, Idaho, and Oregon.
