U.S. Model 1847 Sapper's Musketoon and Bayonet, c. 1847, .71 bore, walnut stock with light cartouche on the left side and iron fittings, tail of the lock marked "SPRING/FIELD/1847," barrel with "V/P" over eagle proof marks, bayonet marked "AMES" and dated "1855," leather scabbard with brass fittings (missing drag),musketoon barrel lg. 26, overall lg. 41 1/8 in.

Stock has some dings and nicks and "TF" carved on the right side of the butt, breech of the gun has some pitting, the lock functions properly, and the drag is missing from the scabbard.
