Joab Hapgood Half-stock Target Rifle, c. 1840s, .44 caliber, walnut stock with German silver inlays, trigger guard, buttplate, and patch box, lock engraved "J. HAPGOOD" with foliate designs, octagonal barrel marked "J. HAPGOOD/SHREWSBURY," with a brass tipped wooden ramrod, barrel lg. 21 1/8, overall lg. 36 in.
Note: Captain Joab Hapgood (1804-1890),from Boston and Shrewsbury, Massachusetts, built guns between 1826 and 1864.

Stock has a few dings and nicks with a replaced wedge of walnut in front of the lock, the lock functions properly, and the steel parts are a plum/brown color.
