Silver Engraved Sixth Corps Badge and Identification Tag for William H.H. Ralph, Company C, 6th Vermont Volunteer Infantry, c. 1863, silver sixth corps badge engraved "Co./C./WHH Ralph/6th/VT," with four coins, and an identification badge marked on the obverse "WAR OF 1861/UNITED STATES" with an eagle, and on the reverse "W. H. H. RALPH/CO. C./6TH./REG./VT. VOL./WEST. WINSOR."
Provenance: Purchased from David Taylor in 1993; the collection of Ron Tunison.
Note: Ralph enlisted on October 2, 1861, and was discharged on October 15, 1864. He was wounded twice: May 5, 1864, at the Battle of the Wilderness, and again on September 19, 1864, at the Third Battle of Winchester.
