Description:
German Spontoon, c. 1760-80, iron blade with three base projections on each side, a median ridge running about half way down the blade, a faceted base ferrule, coarse threads, an iron three tiered round ferrule with a crude "V" engraved on the side, iron langets attached to the haft, and an oak haft, blade and ferrule lg. 12 1/2, langet lg. 13 3/8, overall lg. 74 3/8 in.

Iron has some patination and old black finish, the haft has an old black finish and some wear/worm holes at the base.
