British Pattern 1779-S Short Land Musket, c. 1779-80, bore .78, walnut stock with a storekeeper's stamp on the right side of the butt, and initials "C.M" on the left side, stamped "IR" behind the side plate, brass fittings, lock marked "TOWER" on the tail with crown over "GR" in front of the cock, with ordnance stamp under the pan, barrel with very light proof marks and "SG" on the left side of the breech, and an iron ramrod, barrel lg. 42, overall lg. 57 7/8 in.
Provenance: The collection of Dr. Clifford D. Harvey, by descent to the consignor.
