James Butler Mahogany Longcase Clock, Bolton, England, c. 1760-80, inset eglomise glass panels in the swan's-neck dentil-molded decorated hood, freestanding Corinthian reeded columns flanking the 14 1/2-in. roman numeral painted iron dial reading "James Butler, Bolton" above the moon phase and lunar calendar, swag-decorated spandrels, with day-of-the-month calendar in the center, fully carved and decorated case with gothic-style waist door, applied lower panel all resting on bracket feet, eight-day time and hour-strike movement, regulated by an iron pendulum, and two associated weights, ht. 100 in.
