Description:

Blue and Green Landscape, China, after Wen Zhengming (1470-1559),with dwellings in mountain ranges amongst high peaks and clouds, with figures engaged in various activities, signed "Changzhou Zhengming zhi" with two seals reading "Wen Zhengming yin" and "Hengshan" above an illegible collector's seal, ink and color on silk, framed and glazed, painting 47 1/8 x 21 3/4 in.

Provenance: Purchased in Shanghai in the 1910s by a US Navy officer who periodically worked in China until the 1930s; inherited by the present owner of New England family.

not examined out of frame, probably cut off of a hanging scroll and mounted on a panel, minor spotty tears.
