Man's Formal Court Robe, China, late 19th/early 20th century, the front, shoulders, and back embroidered with front-facing dragons, the skirt with ren and sixteen dragon roundels, all bordered below by waves and lishui stripes, on a midnight blue silk ground, lg. 55 in.
Provenance: Purchased in Beijing in the 1930s, then by descent to present owner.
Wear and damage to silk at shoulders and collar.
