Three Dated Tin-glazed Earthenware Plates, probably Holland, early 18th century, two plates with a crown and hippogriff cartouche with interior monograms "IRM/1704" and "TAP/1700," the third plate decorated with an inverted heart with "ME/1709," dia. to 9 1/8 in.
Note: The crown and hippogriff cartouche is very similar to "Merry Man" plates thought to date to the 1680s. For more information see Amanda E. Lange, Delft at Historic Deerfield, 1600-1800 (Historic Deerfield, 2001),pp. 111-12.
