Three Framed Etchings of Historic Interiors: James Stephanoff (British, 1784-1874),Guard Chambers, Hampton Court, titled and signed in the plate, etching and aquatint with hand-coloring on paper, plate size approximately 9 1/2 x 12 in.; After Augustus Charles Pugin (French, c. 1762-1832),Two Interior Views of the Royal Pavilion at Brighton: The Banquetting Room Gallery and The Music Room Gallery, aquatints printed in gray, blue, and sepia inks on paper, sight sizes approximately 7 7/8 x 11 1/4 in.
Literature: This lot, and others from the same collection, are illustrated and contextualized in Imagining Ichabod: My Journey Into 18th-Century America Through History, Food, and a Georgian House, by Paula Bennett (Bauer and Dean: New York, 2016). Imagining Ichabod is described as a "warm, personal account of life in an eighteenth-century house and the search for its first inhabitants... [which offers] a fascinating glimpse into [the United States'] colonial period and its years as a fledgling republic." Condition: Music Gallery with fox mark, not examined out of frames.
