The 20th Century summer auction offers furniture and decorative arts spanning the 20th and 21st centuries.
Included in the sale are a collection of Hunter Studios furniture; works by George Nakashima; designs by Ico and Luisa Parisi, Gio Ponti and Bertha Schaeffer for Singer & Sons; and Danish Modern designs by Borge Mogensen, Hans Wegner and Hans Agne Jakobsson. American mid-century modern is represented by Edward Wormley, Paul McCobb, T.H. Robsjohn-Gibbings as well as lots from Ray and Charles Eames for Herman Miller and Knoll International will also be offered. We have also assembled a number of works by New England Studio furniture makers.
Decorative Arts include Art Nouveau art glass and lighting by Schneider, Galle and Tiffany Studios; Arts & Crafts pottery by Marblehead, Grueby, Revere, and Dedham; mid-century pottery by Lucy Rie, Beatrice Wood, Mary and Edwin Scheier, and Karen Karnes; and modern art glass with an emphasis on Japanese and Czech artisans.
Unique offerings include stained glass windows from the Boston firm Wilbur H. Burnham Studios and a collection of mid-century textiles from Elenhank Designs.
Lastly, we offer an extension collection of jewelry by Taxco, Mexico silversmiths William Spratling, Margot de Taxco, Antonio Pineda, Matilda Eugenia Poulet, Fred Davis, and Hector Aguilar.
