Needlework Sampler "Jane Nickolls," England, c. 1734, worked in silk threads on a fine linen ground, composed of alphanumeric lines, pictorial lines with lions and crowns, a pious verse, a pictorial band featuring pagodas and trees, and a pictorial register below with maker's name and date, surrounded by deer on a hilltop and urns of flowers, 17 1/2 x 12 in., in a bird's-eye maple frame (glass cracked).
