Portrait of a Mother and Child and Original Coral Necklace Worn by the Child
Oil on canvas, 30 x 25 in., in a brown-stained molded frame, the coral necklace is approx. 12 in. long.
Condition: Lined, minor retouch on edge of woman's face.
Provenance: Purchased at auction at Garth's in 1976.
Note: An inscription in marker on the cardboard backing reads "Unknown Lady + Child/By unknown American Artis[t]/From Pratt Collection/of Rhode Island," just above a label from the Lyman Allen Museum with small inscription reading "Pratt."
