Description:

Classical Carved Mahogany Scroll-arm Sofa, reportedly Jamaica, early 19th century, the serpentine crest centering a stylized sheaf of wheat flanked by rondels issuing acanthus carving, the arm fronts similarly carved, above a carved and paneled front rail centering grapes and grape leaves joining turned and spiral-carved legs, ht. 40, overall lg. 85 in.

some minor evidence of old upholstery tack holes just visible at very edge of tacked upholstery. Spiral-carved elements of legs are hollowed out and glued on, and in some cases slightly loose. Minor scratching and wear, with no significant losses to carved elements.
