Photo Albums, Grand Tour Voyage, 1895. Two photograph albums with approximately 384 original photographs of a trip aboard the steamliner First Bismarck made by R.G. Neidlinger and friends from January 29 through September 20, 1895; the group visited the Azores, Porta Delgada, Madeira, Gibraltar, Algiers, Genoa, Malta, Alexandria, Cairo (including the Pyramids and the Sphinx), Cheops, Memphis, Sakkara, Heliopolis, Jerusalem, Smyrna, Athens, Constantinople, Messina, Palermo, Naples, Pompeii, Vesuvius, Rome, Venice, Milan, Lake Como, Lugano, Lucerne, Paris, Hamburg, Mannheim, Cologne, Kiel, and Norway (including several images of Sami people); these original photos contain many interesting subjects, notably, two of the young men are often pictured in their exotic locales (including at the pyramids) with their bicycles, often to the delight of local people; one of Neidlinger's companions seems to have been Titanic survivor Richard Leonard Beckwith (1874-1933), in any case, a person identified as Richard L. Beckwith appears in several photographs; photos measure 4 3/4 x 3 3/4 in., on thin photographic paper mounted on the heavy album pages, neatly titled by Niedlinger; pages of the album somewhat wavy, bindings in poor shape, each of the two matching albums 14 x 11 1/2 in. overall.
