Audubon, John James (1785-1851) Black-headed Gull, Plate CCCXIV. [from] The Birds of America; from Original Drawings, London: by the Author, 1827-1838. Hand-colored engraving with aquatint and etching, the foreground bird with medium to light pink beak and legs, a few minor spots in background, matted and framed, 28 x 22 in. (sight), overall frame 36 x 41 in.

Provenance: The estate of Richard Mellon Scaife, Pennsylvania. The proceeds from the sale of this lot will benefit a Pennsylvania art institution.
