Verne, Jules (1828-1905) From the Earth to the Moon. New York: Scribner, Armstrong, & Co., 1874. First fully illustrated American edition, (the true first edition was published in Newark in 1869 and is very rare), with eighty wood engravings, bound in publisher's full purple cloth over beveled boards, pictorially blocked in black and gold (spine faded, some corner bumping, endcaps frayed), dark blue coated endpapers, with the ticket of George W. Alexander, bookbinder, New York, pasted inside back board; contents clean, binding sound, neat contemporary ownership signature on ffep, 7 3/4 x 5 in.
