Description:

Contemporary Acoma Polychrome Pottery Jar, Lucy M. Lewis (c. 1890-1992), signed on the base, finely painted in red and black against a white ground, with two registers of heartline deer, ht. 6 1/2, dia. 7 1/4 in.

Provenance: Sotheby's, New York, May 22, 2013, Lot 201.
Estimate $800-1,200

The pot is in good condition, the rim has a few minor abrasions, and there is craquelure in the glaze. Some minor areas of pigment loss in the dark color.
