Gurley Solar Compass, West Troy, New York, original lacquered instrument, horizontal silvered circle engraved in four quadrants reading 0-90 and read by opposed verniers, blued-steel needle box engraved "W.&L.E. Gurley/Troy, N.Y.," and scale calibrated 15-0-15, inlaid silvered declination scale reading to single minutes, mounted to the four-screw leveling base.
