The Letter of Marque Brig: "Grand Turk" of Salem, 1815
Unsigned, titled along the lower edge.
Oil on canvas, 16 x 24 in., in a gilt and ropetwist-embellished frame.
Condition: Relined, retouch, surface grime.

Literature: This lot, and others from the same collection, are illustrated and contextualized in Imagining Ichabod: My Journey Into 18th-Century America Through History, Food, and a Georgian House, by Paula Bennett (Bauer and Dean: New York, 2016).
