Painting from the Ramayana, India, Rajasthan, Mewar, late 17th/early 18th century, ink, color, and gold on wasli, depicting the garden where Sita is being guarded by a demon, with Ravana and his wives to the left, a line of text in a yellow reserve above, framed and glazed, sight size 9 1/2 x 15 3/4 in.
Provenance: Purchased in the U.S. in 1972 and descended in the Steig family.
